FAQ

Questions from design-build studios

Does extra work change the timeline?

Yes. Pick the stage each piece of extra work belongs to. Once your client approves it, its days add to that stage, and the timeline shows the extra as its own tail, so on time and late stay fair.

Can my site team use it too?

Yes, on the Studio and Firm plans. The owner invites each person by email and sets them as a Team member or an Intern. An intern adds visits, snags, queries and items, and anything that reaches your client goes through a team member or the owner.

Can I see open snags across all my sites?

Yes. Snags in the menu lists open snags on every site, grouped by person or by project, with how long each one has been open.

What if my client approves extra work on paper?

The owner records it with Mark approved (signed copy) and a note saying who signed and where the copy is.

Project management for design-build studios

When you design and build, the site never stops asking. Blueprint keeps the site side and the design side of every project in one app: snags, site queries, extra work, items and the stage plan, with one link that keeps your client in the loop.

  • Overview lists what is waiting across every site, oldest first, and the sites not visited in two weeks or more.
  • Studio-wide lists for site visits, snags, queries, drawings, extra work and fees show what is open everywhere, without opening project after project.
  • The bell tells you when a client approves, asks for a change or signs off a step. In the phone apps, your phone pings too.
A snag list and site queries, to handover
  • Log a snag with a short name, where it is, who is fixing it and a photo. Mark it fixed with an after photo, or reopen it.
  • See open snags across every site, grouped by person or by project, with how long each one has been open.
  • Closing a stage with snags still open? Blueprint tells you how many first.
  • Log site queries with who asked, the area and the needed-by date. Answer them and send the answer to site on WhatsApp.

Extra work, variations and change orders

Variations and change orders are called extra work in Blueprint. Write each one up with its details, its cost (extra or a saving) and its days, and send it to your client. They approve it, or ask for a change, on their link before the work starts.

  • Approved extra work adds its days to its stage, and the timeline shows the extra as its own tail.
  • Got a signed paper copy? The owner records it with Mark approved (signed copy) and a note.
  • The owner adds approved extra work to the fees, or takes a saving off.
  • Share an extra work note as a PDF from your phone.
A team with clear roles

On the Studio and Firm plans, invite teammates by email and set each one as a Team member or an Intern. Team members run projects: the stage plan, what the client sees, sending drawings and extra work. Interns prepare visits, snags, queries and items, and anything that reaches your client goes through a team member or the owner. Fees, the plan and the team stay with the owner.
