FAQ

Site query questions

What is a site query?

A question from site that needs an answer from the studio, often called an RFI, a request for information: a contractor's doubt, a clash between drawings, a missing size. Blueprint keeps each one with its answer.

Does the contractor need Blueprint?

No. Send on WhatsApp passes your answer to site in one tap. The question and the answer stay in the project either way.

Where do I see overdue queries?

On Overview, which shows every open query, and in Queries in the menu, which lists questions from all your sites, most urgent first. On a phone, Queries is in the bottom bar.

Keep every site answer

Questions and answers, kept with the project.

More about site queries

A site query log, not a chat thread

On every job, site has questions: which way a door swings, what height a niche sits at, which detail applies where two drawings disagree. They usually arrive as a call or a message, and the answer is given once and then lost. The Queries tab keeps each question with its answer, so everyone builds the same thing.

For each query you note the question, who asked, the area or room, and the date site needs the answer by. If it is about a drawing, pick the drawing. A photo is optional.

Answered before site has to wait

A query past its needed-by date is marked overdue. Every open query shows on your Overview, and Queries in the menu lists questions from all your sites, most urgent first. On a phone it sits in the bottom bar, because questions from site rarely wait until you are at a desk.

Tap Answer, write your reply and save it. Send on WhatsApp passes the answer to site in one tap. If the answer has to change, Reopen puts the query back on the open list, and the earlier answer stays on record.

How it differs from WhatsApp or email

A message thread has no due dates and no list of what is still open, and search only helps if you remember the words. An RFI log in a spreadsheet is better, but it lives on one laptop and goes stale. In Blueprint the query, its date, the drawing it refers to and the answer sit together in the project.

With a stage plan, each stage's Linked row counts its queries, so you can see which step is raising the most questions.

Who sees the queries

Queries are studio work: they do not appear on the client link. The project report PDF lists the open ones with who raised them and when they are needed, so you choose when a client or contractor sees them.

Architects answering contractors, interior designers answering carpenters and fitters, and studios where an intern logs the question and a senior answers it all use the same list. For faults found on site, see the snag list.
